Salus Mundi and Dahra Health District Form New Healthcare Partnership in Senegal
Salus Mundi has signed a cooperation agreement with the Dahra Health District in Senegal, the public referral centre for Dahra Djoloff in the Louga region, which coordinates more than fifteen health posts and numerous community health huts. Together we will identify local health priorities, build joint projects in service strengthening, research, and training, and connect them with partners and funders in Europe.

Salus Mundi has established a cooperation agreement with the Dahra Health District in Senegal to develop joint initiatives that improve the health and well-being of local communities.

Dahra Health Centre (also known as Dahra Health District or Élisabeth Diouf Health Centre) is the main public referral health facility serving the municipality of Dahra Djoloff, in the Louga region of Senegal.
As the central hub of Dahra Health District, the centre coordinates a network of more than fifteen health posts and numerous community health huts across the surrounding area. It provides primary healthcare, maternal and child health services, and emergency care. It also works with Sakhir Mbaye Regional Hospital in Louga to refer patients requiring more complex surgical procedures or specialist care.

This partnership brings together local healthcare professionals’ knowledge and experience with Salus Mundi’s expertise in epidemiology, public health, research, and programme evaluation.
Turning Local Priorities into Shared Projects
Together, we aim to identify healthcare needs, develop project proposals, and seek support from donors, foundations, and other funding organisations.
Our collaboration will focus on:
Strengthening healthcare services through projects aligned with priorities identified by the health district.
Research and public health, generating evidence to understand community needs and evaluate interventions.
Training and knowledge exchange, connecting healthcare professionals and institutions.
International partnerships, building relationships with hospitals, universities, and organisations across Europe and Africa.

A Partnership Rooted in Local Expertise
The Dahra Health District is our local partner for developing initiatives with healthcare services and engaging communities. The partnership also provides a framework for collaboration with health authorities and other institutions, subject to the authorisations required for each activity.
The agreement does not involve direct financial support to Salus Mundi from the local healthcare partner. Activities will depend on funding secured and project-specific agreements. Any costs for Salus Mundi’s coordination, scientific support, and project management will be transparently presented in project budgets, agreed between partners, and consistent with donor requirements.
Connecting Senegal and Europe
We seek to build lasting relationships between the Dahra Health District and European institutions interested in supporting healthcare in Senegal.
Our goal is to turn shared expertise, resources, and commitment into practical, sustainable projects developed alongside local healthcare professionals, with clearly defined objectives and measurable results.
